On the Rocks: Memoir of a High-Functioning Alcoholic by Thando Pato
It really felt Like a novel or a drama and a comedy all mixed into one. When I read this book, I was about four months sober, still pretty shaky in my recovery. And reading this book kept me entertained, made me realize I never want to go back to that place, and also made me feel like I wasn’t so alone. Laura states, the point of this book is to articulate that people have the capacity to change. While that’s not one of the humorous quotes, she writes, it goes to show you that she had an intention when she wrote this book. You might like this if you’re a woman in recovery or even considering recovery, like humor and comedy and like crazy stuff. Holly Whitaker’s Quit Like A Woman in the first month of my sobriety.
In those stories, the decision to get better often arrives like a bolt of lightning, but this is rarely the case. My own recovery from codependency and alcoholism, which I write about in my memoir Good Morning, Destroyer of Men’s Souls, has felt elusive, circuitous, and sometimes rather boring.

This is one of the first best alcohol recovery bookss I read about addiction ever, before I realized I had a problem. I really liked this book because it focuses a lot on her spiritual crisis and how it related to her alcoholism.
Big Girl: How I Gave Up Dieting and Got a Life by Kelsey Miller
She is a Christian, as am I, and I often battled in my head with being a Christian and being an alcoholic. Eventually my faith brought me to my knees and I began my journey of sobriety after having a spiritual experience. My faith is the foundation for my sobriety today.

Jason Derulo Pens First Book ‘Sing Your Name Out Loud’
She couldn’t remember the fun she had because of the blackouts, but that’s life with partying right? Until she gets sober and takes us along with her journey. Honestly I was confused how she didn’t have money when her parents were paying all her rent and bills while she lived in NY. She mentions many times in this book about how she didn’t know how people could pay their bills and buy purses. She spends all her money on drinking and buying things online.
But then she falls for Booker, and her aunt Charlene—who has been in and out of treatment for alcoholism for decades—moves into the apartment above her family’s hair salon. The Revolution of Birdie Randolph is a beautiful look at the effects of alcoholism on friends and family members in the touching way only Brandy Colbert can master. This book reads like a conversation, and teaches us to get curious. Gilbert helps us understand the noisy voice in our head, which can often be our greatest critic. She offers generous vulnerability in her lessons and encourages you to find your gift within. A life of recovery is an awakened life of purpose, service, and meaning.
